SIKLO
CYCLICAL IMMERSION OF SCIENCE AND NATURE
TYPOLOGY     INSTITUTIONAL
LOCATION       PORAC, PAMPANGA, PHILIPPINES
YEAR                  2015

SIKLO was envisioned to be an immersive atmosphere that aims to create a seamless human integration of Earth, Water, and Sky - achieved through experiential environments that merge Science and Nature.

The immersive development is comprised of three main features: The Vertical Farm, the Water Play Exhibit, and the Night Sky Garden, each one acts as a respective interpretation of the concepts of Earth, Water, and Sky.

The Vertical Farm would introduce sustainable and innovative farming methods to the development. As an extension to the Farm, a Market Hall would be integrated which provides a venue for local gastronomy experts to showcase their work and solidify the culinary identity of the region. In addition, the region’s indigenous people, the Aetas, could be trained to be urban farmers to educate them on the contemporary methods of farming – giving them awareness of contemporary life.

The Water Play Exhibit aims to become a playful and elegant public installation for science and art.

Acting as an outdoor observatory, the Night Sky Garden would be a man-made landscape installation used for star-gazing.  The Aetas’ knowledge of sky patterns could also be introduced in understanding astronomy akin to its context.

A continuous cycle of experience and learning – that is SIKLO.
